It beckons...

So, we went and did it.

After a year in which I missed the Pikes Peak Ascent because they closed the whole state of New Mexico while it burned, after a year in which I couldn't run for the last three months of the calendar because of a stupidity-induced stress fracture, after a year in which my weight continued to yo-yo all over the damned place, I managed a couple of in-retrospect major brain farts.  I convinced three four people I consider friends to sign up for their first Ascents (one of them has already asked me what the hell she was thinking; two of them nearly died after our one trip up the mountain last spring, and the last one has no idea what he's gotten himself into).  Even worse, I managed to convince CS that the Pikes Peak Marathon was a good idea for us.  Yeah, that's right, the up AND the down.  Seriously, check it out (a click will pull down the Google Earth file so you can get the complete taste):

So, needless to say, we've got our work cut out for us.  A lot of work.

My plan (famous last words) is to try and keep track of the training between now and then and track my (hoped for) progress/descent into madness.  I'll post updates of workouts and intervening events between now and then.

Should be an interesting summer.
